Annual Leo Appreciation

“Police Week” is in May every year and in 2023 we deliver thank yous to all 4 Member Police Departments in Chatham County. Each station in Ramseur, Pittsboro, Siler City and Liberty were visited by Bob Steele. We hold a drawing for prizes including t-shirts and a cash grand prize.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls each year, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special respect and recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Police Week, in May each year, is a way to honor and celebrate the bravery of living and fallen Law Enforcement Officers of Chatham County, the Chatham County Law Enforcement Officer’s Association Board of Directors voted to show appreciation in the following ways:

“Thank You” letters were given to the Officers; which contained a gift card from Subway for each officer.

Each Police Chief  was given a letter of “Thanks” with a framed Challenge Coin of Remembrance for all fallen Law Enforcement Officers. We also gave the Chiefs a “Thank You” Challenge Coin  for the entire Department.
